Colors and ears!

The two things I'm being asked is: What color is my pup? and When will the ears stand up?

Well as you see ears are standing up now. Some litters, the ears are up by 4 weeks. Others take longer. I give you the example below of Lexi (mom) and Daire at the same age.  As you can see, both have ears that are down. So, yeah, Daire's ears will pop up shortly, and no, they don't need to be taped or glued up. It's very, very rare that a Corgis ears don't come up. It just takes a bit of time with some genetics.  ...btw SOMEONE looks like momma! LOL

As for color? That's trickier with Red-Head/Black-Head tris at this age.  Lexi is a BHT and I believe Daire might end up being one, he's not showing a marked amount of ticking (that's the red hairs mixing with the black on the face and ears) yet. So, he might not go RHT.  Faolan below is a definite RHT. You can see the ticking when you blow into his head fur (you can even see it here!). Faolan has very high rufous (tan factor, the deep red coloring) too, so it helps to see the difference with him.  You can compare him with what I feel is 100% BHT in the litter - Riordan.  When I blow into Rio's fur, it doesn't have that ticking.

Now I might be absolutely wrong on the BHT... only time will tell. But, this gives you an idea!  Sans is RHT/BHT (the /gene is a carry, since all animals carry two genes of any given trait), and Lexi being a BHT is only BHT/BHT (as BHT is the most recessive you can get). You can read more about color genetics on the tab under FAQ where I have it listed out. It's interesting if you're into that (which I very much am!). But there you go.
